Champion of Indigenous rights Robert Redford has passed on. 🕊 From Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid to Dark Winds, Redford’s career transformed Hollywood. But for Native communities, his greatest legacy may be the doors he opened as the founder of Sundance Film Festival, where he launched the Sundance Native Lab — elevating and empowering Indigenous filmmakers, storytellers, and cultural sovereignty for generations. He was also an environmental activist, standing with our people during Standing Rock and speaking out for the protection of sacred lands and water. His voice carried weight, and he used it for justice. As of now, Dark Winds (S3, Ep1) may be his final on-screen appearance — his first acting role in six years, a powerful cameo between Zahn McClarnon, George R. R. Martin, and himself, emphasizing his connection and support for Indigenous stories. Safe travels, Robert. Your allyship will not be forgotten. Condolences to all his relations. 🤍 How will you remember him? ...
