Anke Gowda, 75, sold his Mysuru property to build “Pustaka Mane,” a library of nearly 2 million books in Haralahalli village, Karnataka. Open to all with no entry fee, his vast collection includes rare foreign books and thousands of dictionaries. Supported by his family, Gowda dedicated most of his earnings over five decades to building this knowledge hub. Despite limited staff and resources, the library remains a beacon for students, researchers, and visitors from all over India.
