The first day of fall calls for something sweet, spiced, and fire-baked on the Egg.
Here’s how to make tinacannoncooks Stuffed Honeycrisp Apples:
5–6 small honeycrisp apples
1 ½ cups granola
2 Tbsp brown sugar, packed
½ tsp pumpkin pie or apple pie spice
¼ cup raisins (omit if granola already has raisins)
½ stick salted butter, grated (freeze first for easier grating)
3 Tbsp spiced rum, bourbon, or apple juice
Mix granola, brown sugar, spice, and raisins. Add grated butter, drizzle in rum/bourbon/apple juice, mix well.
Cut tops off apples, core, and spritz with lemon juice to prevent browning. Stuff with granola mixture and place in a buttered cast iron pan.
Bake indirect on the Egg at 400°F for 20–25 minutes, until apples are tender. For added flavor, toss in a handful of BGE pecan or bourbon barrel smoking chips.
Serve warm and enjoy fall outdoors.
