My freshman year of college, I was self-taught, all of my experience coming from hours of practice and repetition. The exposure triangle came easy, I was always good at math and once you learned the harmony between them it became second nature. What wasn’t easy for me was the social side of art. I’m introverted by nature, will gladly stay in my bubble with a Robert Glasper or Pharrell record in my headphones as I compose the next photo in my head. In social spaces I’ve learned to appreciate the value of being open and expressive, leading with intention while working with clients. It shows that you’re prepared, someone to trust, and often that respect bridges the gap to make memorable photos.
