Three transgender women were sh0t and killed on the outskirts of Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city, police said Monday.
The victims’ bodies were discovered on a roadside. All had been killed at close range. Authorities said a motive was not immediately clear and a probe is underway to identify and arrest those responsible.
Sindh Province Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah condemned the killings and ordered an investigation.
Members of the transgender community staged protests outside Karachi’s Jinnah Hospital on Sunday, where the bodies were taken for autopsy. Activists described the killings as part of a pattern of violence against their community and warned of larger demonstrations if justice is not served.
