Chicken & Dumplings! đâ¨Now this is a debate I can get behind. Flat or fluffy? Veggie or chicken only? Broth or stock? There are SO many different ways each family makes! These are my mamawâs dumplings (I add veggies) she taught me to make. I say my mawaw, but really sheâs Mr. Herbsâ. After 20 years though sheâs mine, too. Sheâs the cutest little spitfire you ever did meet and sheâs taught me a heck of a lot about cooking!
3 cups self rising flour (more if needed)
2 cups butter milk (more if needed)
Your favorite cooking oil
1 sweet onion
1 cup diced carrots
1 cup fixed celery
5 (+\-) cups chicken or vegetable stock or broth
3 (+\-) cups chicken (optional)
Herbs for garnish
Seasonings to taste. I use Greek, salt, and pepper.
To a large mixing bowl add your flour and buttermilk. Mix together until the consistency matches the video.
If itâs too wet add more flour. If itâs too dry add more buttermilk. No big deal. Set aside.
