❗️Indian Motorcycle just broke a 58-year-old land speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats, linking back to the legacy of Burt Munro’s legendary 1967 run.
Rider Tyler O’Hara piloted a modified Indian Challenger in the 2000 cc APS-AG (Partially Streamlined, Altered Gas) class to a two-run average of 194.384 mph, with a peak of 196.576 mph, establishing a new benchmark for the category.
The bike was based on the Challenger bagger platform but underwent heavy modifications, including ported heads, larger throttle bodies, race cams, a full-weight crank, and carbon fiber bodywork designed for aerodynamics.
Even the saddlebags were functional aero elements to comply with the rules of the “partially streamlined” class, proving that even a big touring bike silhouette can be engineered for serious speed.
While Munro’s 1967 record still technically stands in his original under-1000 cc class, this new milestone symbolizes Indian carrying its racing heritage forward into modern performance.
