Gov. Gavin Newsom arrived on campus around 10:30 a.m. and is expected to sign legislation to advance “California’s dominance in global innovation,” according to a press release.
Announced yesterday, Newsom will be joined on campus by other legislative leaders.
Members of University Professional and Technical Employees, or UPTE, gathered outside of Campbell Hall this morning to advocate that Newsom pressure the UC Board of Regents into reopening union contract negotiations, which have stalled.
Unions are joined by several students protesting the advancement of Assembly Bill 715, or AB 715, which would establish an Office of Civil Rights in the state and require the appointment of an antisemitism prevention coordinator.
