The first thing I did was maximize my high school. I didn’t have a ton of resources at my high school, a few AP classes and a few extracurriculars, but I made sure I did at least 90% of everything available to me. The second thing I did was realize teacher recommendations could really be from anyone and while I did get a few few teachers to recommend me. I also looked for letters from professionals in my community that were well respected, and “high up”. I networked in order to find them and built mentor relationships with them by shadowing and doing projects with them to get these letters. The third thing I did was choose a strategic intended major that the schools I wanted to go to, didn’t have many people studying, I then made projects in my community within this subject area and wrote about them in my application . All of these things require initiative and hard work, but they worked for me and can work for you. Read my book or meet with me to learn how to do it yourself!! 💋👩...
