Indigenous Peoples make up less than 5% of the world’s population, yet they protect 80% of the planet’s biodiversity. Despite their critical role as guardians of ecosystems, they remain among the most vulnerable — comprising 15% of the world’s poorest due to systemic marginalization. Too often, they are excluded from decisions and funding that directly affect their lands, while facing growing threats from environmental degradation. The traditional knowledge of Indigenous Peoples is vital to protecting biodiversity and tackling the climate crisis. They must be fully recognized and included in global efforts to address today’s most urgent challenges. Regram: unep #GlobalGoals #ClimateAction
