Artistic Director Hema Rejagopalan (seen in the last 2 slides) arrived in Chicago in 1975 from India. She performed for a small Indian community and was asked to teach, and Natya Dance Theatre was born! Since then, NTD has been regularly celebrated for their artistic excellence as both a professional company and a training academy. They’ve performed near and far, including at a concert with Yo-Yo Ma at Millenium Park and at the 2002 Winter Olympics!
