LIONS HOLD OFF MUSTANGS FOR HISTORIC WIN: The jserra.girlsflagfootball team opened the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs with a hard fought 20-13 triumph over the Trabuco Hills Mustangs on Wednesday at JSerra Catholic High School. The nation’s top-ranked team improved to 25-0 overall and made history by winning the first postseason game in school history. With freshman Kate Meier connecting on touchdown passes of 27 yards to junior G.G. Szczuka and 25 yards to freshman Tessa Russell in the first half, JSerra surged to a 13-0 halftime advantage. Trabuco Hills battled back with a touchdown in the third quarter and was driving to try and tie the game with less than two minutes left in the period, but freshman Sterling Flores produced her second interception on 3rd & goal to end the scoring threat.
