The Meteorological Service of Jamaica says Hurricane Melissa is now moving away from the island toward eastern Cuba, but a hurricane warning remains in effect as the system continues to produce heavy rainfall and strong winds across several parishes. At 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, the centre of the storm was located just off Jamaica’s north-central coast, with maximum sustained winds near 205 km/h (125 mph).
