Lesbian footballer Lucy Bronze has been named England women’s player of the year for 2024–25. Fans chose defender Lucy Bronze, part of England’s Euros success, ahead of Chloe Kelly and Hannah Hampton who were second and third, respectively. The Chelsea right back was presented with the award by Georgia Stanway at the home of English football, St. George’s Park. Bronze made 16 appearances for the Lionesses throughout the season, scoring five goals, and has revealed that she played the Euros with a fractured leg. “I wasn’t expecting it but it’s always nice to get recognition, especially from England fans,” she said. “I adore playing for England and I have put my heart and soul into every game over the [past] 12 years. It’s a huge honour, especially after such a crazy year with the Euros. I’m very proud. “The way we won the Euros, the noise around it and women’s football in general this year, has been out of this world.” #Lioness #Football #LGBTQNews #WLW
