Three 🔑🔑🔑 to Master Self Discipline: 1.) Urge surfing: Imagine your urges are waves in the seas that go up and down and eventually crash. Rather than “fighting” an urge; sit back, observe it, and “surf it”, eventually it will go away. Fighting/avoiding urges make them stronger and longer lasting. Instead of “I feel like…“ , it’s “I have an urge to…”. Don’t identify with the urge and you can separate yourself from it. Example: Hunger- If you don’t look at it as a sign to eat right away, the hunger will fade faster than you think. 2.) Arousal control: Response to stressful situations can save us. Slow, deep, long breaths can help you maintain a sense of calm or help you return to a calmer state. Example: Lion’s Breath; Breathe in for one deep breath and open your eyes wide.
