In a moment when new technology markets itself through seamlessness, I choose friction. Analog imperfections (VHS tracking errors, film burn, compression artifacts) aren't merely replicated but rebuilt within digital structures, becoming formal elements as considered as brushstrokes. The result is imagery that carries genuine emotional weight, surfaces that feel haunted by the media technologies that shaped us.
This is work about what we embed in our tools, and what our tools embed in us. About the stories we tell through the things we save, and the things we let decay. About how memory itself has become a technological problem, and how that problem might be art's most urgent subject.
