Today is UN-sanctioned World Day for Cultural Diversity. But dialogue means little if the voices speaking the hardest truths are ignored (or punished). Development means nothing if it's measured by extractive economies built on stolen land.
Yes, cultural diversity matters. Indigenous wisdom, Black radical traditions, queer kinship, disabled resilience, diasporic memory - these must be honoured beyond token aesthetics, as ways of being that challenge dominant systems. But a seat at the table doesn't equal liberation if the table itself was carved from conquest.
