One of the most common errors we see with younger athletes is the knee sweep out the back! When addressing the issue, use the cue “kick the soccer ball”. Have the athlete sweep as if they were kicking the ball, with a long sweep leg leading with the inner foot. That will put them in a better position to sweep with a longer leg. An additional tool to help is to put a cone out where the athlete has to sweep around the cone as they work out the back.
