Iowa state officials are seeking up to $1 billion in federal funds to transform rural health care by building a health care model that envisions regional collaboration between providers and rural areas. Gov. Kim Reynolds said Wednesday, Nov. 5 that the state has submitted its application for the Rural Health Transformation Program, a federal funding initiative managed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services that was created in Republicans' tax and spending law dubbed the "big, beautiful bill." If fully awarded, the state could receive $200 million per project year period, totaling $1 billion over the five-year grant.
