The sky is not falling, I repeat the sky is not falling! 😂 The potential Visa / Mastercard settlement that has been recently reported, would modestly lower the interchange fee charged to merchants and allow them to pick and choose which types of credit cards they accept. But note- this has not been finalized and signed by a judge. This suit has been going on for more than 20(!) years and prior settlements have been called off. So, in my professional opinion I think we need to wait and see, but even if it is signed off on- it will take a while to see any effects and I don’t think they will be dramatic from a consumer perspective. Personally I think of merchants want to decline top tier rewards cards, they’ll lose more business than the small percent they’ll save on interchange. #thepointsguy #creditcards #visa #mastercard
