Our #HubbleTopImage features a monster galaxy šŸ‘¹ that may have been stirred up by black-hole mischief! This view of the elliptical galaxy A2261-BCG was captured by the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope in 2012. The galaxy has a puffy core measuring about 10,000 light-years across – about three times larger than the centre of comparable galaxies. Astronomers proposed two possible explanations. One is that a pair of merging black holes šŸ•³ļøšŸ•³ļø gravitationally stirred up and scattered the stars. Another is that merging black holes were ejected from the core, causing unanchored stars to spread out. For more information check the link in bio. šŸ“· NASA, ESA, M.
