Happy “Deeper Than Hate” Week, for those that celebrate! (I’m definitely very late to post this as the game is literally tomorrow so I apologize.) There is only one thing better than cheering for a team you love and that’s cheering for a team you love while they are playing a team you despise. Up here in Boone we love our Mountaineers but more importantly we hate the Eagles. The “Deeper Than Hate” Rivalry is a long lasting historic rivalry between Appalachian State and Georgia Southern going as far back as their first match up in 1934. The rivalry gained its true spark while both teams were the powerhouses of FCS Football, winning a combined total of 9 National Championships. When both teams were elevated to FBS, as well as the Sun Belt Conference, the hate between the teams grew even stronger. Tomorrow night, November 6th, these teams will face each other once again.
