Masked and armed individuals carried out a brazen smash-and-grab robbery at a mall jewelry store in Newmarket, Ontario, on November 15. At least three people were seen breaking display cases with hammers at the Peoples Jewelers and stole an unspecified amount of jewelry from display cases, as other shoppers look on. The suspects then fled the area and evaded police by spraying a chemical irritant, causing bystanders “cough and cry,” according to a witness.
