Have you ever been to a mangrove forest? 🌳 I’ve wanted to visit one ever since I first learned about them as a kid watching bbcearth documentaries with davidattenborough, and this year I finally got to explore one for the very first time. Getting there wasn’t easy. My friend dayonmoiz and I took a taxi from Caracas to the town of Maracay, then another taxi to a small fishing village across a mountain covered in beautiful forest, and then hopped on a boat that brought us to this breathtaking place. After spending a few hours there, we made our way back to Caracas: another boat ride, a motorbike taxi, a tightly packed bus filled with salsa and reggaetón where I shared far too much sweat with the people pressed against me, and finally another bus where a woman blocked the aisle with a giant box of quail-egg nets that I had to literally step over to reach my seat and later to get off. Was it worth it? Absolutely. 100%.
