This is my favorite photo of me, ever. Not because of the way I look, but because of how I felt in the moment. I stepped to the front of the start line and stood there confidently, not sparing a second thought about whether or not I belonged there. I knew that I did. I’m assuming that no one else on the front of the line questioned it either, but as women we’re often taught to prioritize others, make ourselves small, and not overstep. Running has given me the confidence to know that I don’t deserve less space or respect just because I’m a girl, and, for that, I’m so grateful. Running makes me feel brave, powerful, and capable in ways that allow me to unapologetically take up space. I’m proud of myself for understanding my worth, and I’m proud of everyone who’s heard the caveat “for a girl” (or any diminishing caveat) and pushed back 👊😤 You’re powerful, capable, and deserving—no caveats 🫶 #womeninsport #goodforagirl
