Bet you didn’t know we also make Thai food in UD Farmette class.
Our Wednesday Farmette crew comes in ready to work — and ready to cook. Each fall session includes harvesting what’s growing on the farm and turning it into a full dish. One of the biggest plot twists every year? Thai Tom Kha Soup made with our own Chinese eggplant and fresh lemongrass. Students insist they don’t like either… right up until they try the finished soup. Then it becomes the runaway favorite. Every. Single. Year.
Animal husbandry is a core part of Farmette life too. Students rotate through the full care routine — feeding all the animals, milking our goat Layla, clearing and re-bedding the barn, and repairing the corral.
They also get real practice with power tools as they build and fix structures around the farm, sharpening skills that go way beyond the classroom.
Hands-on, skill-building, Thai soup with fresh veggies that even your kids will eat? That’s Wild Wednesday.
