“I wasn’t exactly the ideal student. Constantly getting into trouble at school, always fidgeting, always distracted. At 9 years old, I ran through a glass door and lost nearly half the blood in my body. It wasn’t until later that I was diagnosed with ADHD.
My parents always wanted me to have a stable career, something ‘proper.’ So when I landed a job at Singapore Airlines, they were relieved. I had finally ‘made it.’
And then… I quit.
I still remember the disappointment in their eyes. After years of wanting me to settle down into something secure, I threw it all away to start a business. A social enterprise, no less - something that wasn’t exactly known for being the most profitable or stable.
Today, they see the struggle, but they also see the purpose. And though it took time, they are proud. Of the work Cheryl and I do, of the impact we create, and (I hope) of the person I’ve become. ❤️
