Director Neeraj Ghaywan’s latest film, Homebound, produced by Karan Johar and backed by Martin Scorsese, is already generating Oscar buzz as India’s official submission to the Academy Awards. Inspired by a New York Times essay, the film tells the story of two childhood friends in rural India whose dreams collapse during the pandemic.
