Former HealthSouth CEO Richard Scrushy is suing the law firm Bradley Arant Boult Cummings for malpractice, fraud and conspiracy.
Scrushy’s alleges that Bradley Arant lawyers in 1998 were hired to represent him and his interests but later aligned with HealthSouth in 2002.
In another court filing, Scrushy asked a judge to toss the firm from the court case where the $3.2 billion judgment against him still stands.
While in federal prison in 2009 Scrushy was also found liable in a civil case related to the HealthSouth accounting fraud and slapped with $3.2 billion in damages. This is the judgment that he is seeking to reopen.
According to an affidavit providing details from the firm’s side, the firm did represent Scrushy and his wife, but that all remaining matters open for Scrushy were dropped when his office was raided.
