UC Berkeley will lose direct access to 11 systemwide subscriptions to digital resources as part of the UC Libraries’ 2025-26 budget reductions.
The cuts stem from a 3.7% reduction to the systemwide collections budget — equivalent to $1.75 million — enacted by the UC Libraries due to ongoing budget cuts across the UC system.
In a press release, the UC Berkeley Library said the reduction strategy aims to maintain the UC system’s shared licensed content in a way that upholds the university’s academic mission in the face of budget restraints.
