Let me tell you what I won’t do as a father 👇 I won’t teach her that play has an expiration date. I won’t shrink her interests because they’re “impractical” or “don’t matter.” I won’t hijack her curiosity and replace it with my version of what she should like. I won’t shame the part of her that’s loud, weird, imaginative, or childlike. Somewhere along the way, we confuse responsibility with misery as adults. We let work, stress, and expectations convince us that joy is something you grow out of. That’s bullshit. The inner child doesn’t die, it just gets ignored. My job isn’t to mold her into a miniature adult. It’s to protect her sense of wonder while teaching her how to navigate the real world. There’s a time and a place for responsibility.
