Going to New Zealand? I *urge* you to do the Robert’s Point Trek in Franz Josef!
This is a beautiful, scenic 12km loop trek, taking you to the best free view of Franz Josef Glacier. (You’ll save $725 & the environmental impact of taking helicopter to view it 👀)
This is my favourite trek in NZ, and very doable for even beginner trekkers. But there’s some things to know Vegemite you go:
• The trek a starts about 5km outside of the town. If you don’t have a car or van, you can use a local shuttle company to get a bus to and from the start point. Freephone 0800 999 739 to book!
• The shuttle is on a fixed schedule, if you finish before it’s due to arrive it’s common to hitchhike back into town (I did it both times!)
• I wore running trainers for my first time, boots for my second. I think hiking trainers would be best, boots were super bulky but running trainers were slippy. Hiking trainers seem like the best option.
• The trek takes around 5-6 hours to complete, time will absolute...
