Staff at the world's most-visited museum, the Louvre in Paris, have voted to strike over pay and working conditions. As a result, the museum will remain closed, disrupting access for thousands of visitors. Union representatives have announced a walkout supported by 400 employees, hitting the museum at a very challenging time. The institution is still grappling with the fallout from an October jewel heist, valued at $103.30 million, and recent infrastructure issues, notably a water leak that damaged ancient books. The labour action, called by the CFDT, CGT and Sud unions, follows what they described as "increasingly degraded working conditions" and insufficient staffing.
