Staff at the world's most-visited museum, the Louvre in Paris, have voted to strike over pay and working conditions. As a result, the museum will remain closed, disrupting access for thousands of visitors. Union representatives have announced a walkout supported by 400 employees, hitting the museum at a very challenging time. The institution is still grappling with the fallout from an October jewel heist, valued at $103.30 million, and recent infrastructure issues, notably a water leak that damaged ancient books. The labour action, called by the CFDT, CGT and Sud unions, follows what they described as "increasingly degraded working conditions" and insufficient staffing. The Louvre welcomes approximately 30,000 visitors daily. #Louvre #strike #paris
