Under normal, healthy circumstances, cortisol:
• Helps you wake up and feel alert in the morning
• Regulates blood sugar and metabolism
• Supports immune and inflammatory responses
• Helps your body respond appropriately to stress
• Follows a natural daily rhythm—high in the morning, low at night
