Traveling in Korea is about to get even easier 🖤 The government is pushing to introduce an open-loop public transportation payment system, allowing foreign tourists to use credit cards issued overseas on buses and subways in Korea. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is currently reviewing ways to enable fare payments using global credit cards such as Visa and Mastercard. The goal is to reduce the inconvenience of having to purchase separate transit cards and to provide the same public transportation experience as local users. However, due to system setup costs, a nationwide rollout is unlikely at once.
