Students who knew Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov and Ella Cook, remember the two Brown University students who were killed when a gunman opened fire on a classroom on Saturday.
Umurzokov’s friend said he was not supposed to be in the building where the shooting took place, but he went to help a friend. The pastor from Cathedral Church of the Advent in Cook’s hometown of Birmingham, Alabama remembered her as a “grounded, faithful, bright light.”
Nine other people were injured in the shooting on the campus in Providence, Rhode Island. The gunman is still at large and authorities have released photos and videos of a possible suspect, offering a reward as the manhunt continues. The school said in a statement that “local police have advised they do not believe there is any immediate threat to Brown or the local community.”
