For our next post in this series on the Global Bird Rescue 2025 results, we’re looking at the rescue outcomes.
Participants documented 854 bird collisions during the event, of which 184 birds were found alive, representing approximately 22%. It’s not an easy ratio to absorb, but it reflects the reality the GBR team shared: most birds don’t survive.
Nevertheless, the rescues matter, representing how much we care about birds and biodiversity as conservationists and citizen scientists.
This year’s live–dead ratio mirrors last year almost exactly, reminding us how essential these collective efforts remain.
We thank the GBCM team and flapcanada for their incredible efforts to ensure that awareness and action about this biodiversity issue remain at an all-time high.
