Shows and festivals have always helped me slow down my anxiety and step out of my head for a while. Being surrounded by people and sound feels healing in a way nothing else really touches.
In the process of learning more, I found research suggesting that regular music listening is linked to better cognitive health as we get older. One large study from Monash University even found a meaningful association between music engagement and a lower risk of cognitive decline.
It is not a cure or a guarantee. But it is one more reason I keep playing shows and believing in the power of music to help us through the things we all wrestle with.
