Payments of $1,776 will be sent to 1.45 million serving members of the U.S. military. President Donald Trump said the “Warrior Dividend” payments are “already on the way” to every soldier. The funding source for the payments wasn’t announced but Trump has indicated he favored putting revenue generated by his administration’s tariffs on foreign imports into the hands of U.S. citizens. CNN is reporting the total payments of $2.6B will be a “one-time basic allowance for housing supplement to all eligible members in pay grades 0-6 and below.” That would include about 1.28 active duty military and 174,000 Reserve members through the rank of colonel or the Navy captain equivalent. Final eligibility rules have not been announced. Earlier this year, Congress appropriated a $2.9B supplement to the Basic Allowance for Housing Entitlement to the Department of War.
