A transport truck driver in New Tecumseth is facing charges after officers noticed a large block of snow and ice on the vehicle’s roof. The Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police Detachment said in a social media post the incident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 89. Officers stopped the commercial truck after spotting the block of snow and ice on top of the trailer. The driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act for having an insecure load in a commercial motor vehicle. “Ice and snow falling from vehicles can create serious hazards for other road users,” OPP stated. The Nottawasaga OPP added a warning to drivers to ensure their vehicles are clear of snow and ice to prevent accidents. “Please take the time to properly clear your vehicle before hitting the road safety starts before the wheels move,” OPP finished. #truck #driver #news
