Loughrea reached a first All Ireland final since 2007 with a comprehensive 14 point win over Ulster champions Slaughtneil in Parnell Park today. The joy of the win was tempered by an injury time red card for their influential midfielder Cullen Killeen however which will leave the Galway side with a big headache before the final next month. In an even opening half, the sides were level on a number of occasions but Anthony Burns hit the net to help Loughrea into a 1-9 to 0-10 lead at the break. Slaughtneil never got their game going in the second period though and the two in a row Galway winners were able to see out the win despite a litany of wides... but that late red for Killeen will be on their minds as they settle down for the Christmas.
