When I was a sophomore in high school, I went to a friend’s house to watch WrestleMania IV, because we didn’t have cable television at home, so I couldn’t order the PPV. I was so excited and couldn’t wait to find out who would win the tournament to crown a new WWF World Champion! Only when I got there, my friend’s dad decided he didn’t want to “pay per view,” so turned on WCW’s free counter program, Clash of the Champions, on TBS instead. I was so disappointed, as it meant I would to wait months to rent WrestleMania on VHS, and might have to wait a full week to find out who won the title on the next Superstars of Wrestling program.
