Three female prime ministers. Two were assassinated. One was overthrown. All three were daughters of founding fathers, consumed by the very political states their fathers helped build. What should have marked a breakthrough in women’s leadership instead reveals a darker pattern of violence, instability, and what sociologists describe as the “patriarchal bargain”. In this video, I look beyond South Asia’s “political glass ceiling” to trace the shared, turbulent histories of these household names, and what their rise and fall reveals about power and gender in the region. *Disclaimer: This is not an endorsement or condemnation of any individual leader. It’s an attempt to connect historical dots and ask what these patterns can teach us about where—and how—things went wrong. #southasia #india #pakistan #bangladesh #history
