As we reflect on an impactful year for football in Cymru, the Football Association of Wales’ CEO Noel Mooney looks ahead to what promises to be an exciting 2026.
There hopes of the Cymru Women’s team performing well in their Nations League group, to the Men’s team pushing for qualification at the FIFA World Cup, ambition remains high at every level of the game. With football the largest participation sport in Wales, nearly £30 million of investment supporting clubs and facilities, and the Cymru Football Foundation continuing to transform communities, there is a lot to be optimistic about
The CEO also pays tribute to the volunteers who keep clubs thriving across the country and introduces Dosbarth, a new FAW initiative designed to better support the people running football clubs at grassroots level. In 2024 the JD Cymru Premier strategy was revealed and now member clubs have revealed their five-year strategies with investment coming in to Wales’ top flight league.
