Confidence isn’t something you either have or don’t have. That language traps athletes. Confidence lives on a spectrum, and where you sit on that spectrum shifts daily based on your behaviors. Preparation, decisiveness, body language, response to mistakes, and willingness to engage under pressure all move you closer to confidence or further away from it. Olympic champions aren’t confident because they never doubt themselves. They’re confident because they know how to act through doubt. In my work with Olympians and professional athletes, we don’t chase confidence as a feeling. We train behaviors that reliably produce it. When the stakes are highest, confidence isn’t found. It’s built in real time through choices. The athletes who understand this don’t wait to feel ready. They behave their way into belief. #fyp #grit #nhl #atp #confidence
