The one thing I want you to remember 👇🏼
play is productive!!! even tho I know the mess can be annoying
When your toddler is poking, smelling, or “playing” with their food, they’re not being difficult! They’re learning and exploring the food that looks “odd” to them (esp if it doesn’t come out of a fun package lol)
Toddlers are a bit more observant (and skeptical) than babies, so finding fun ways to explore food can spark curiosity to try it!
Try inviting them to:
- pop open snap peas & count what’s inside or shoot them like “pea rockets”
- stack banana or cucumber slices like tree logs
- make lines or swirls with yogurt or dip
- talk about how food looks, smells, or feels (“that one’s bumpy!” “ooh, this one’s cold!”)
- turn it into a game “wow, that one really popped!” “what color do you think is inside?” “can you make it roll?” “want to take a bunny nibble with me?” (add expressions!)
*and don’t forget to remove the pressure “you don’t have to eat it, want to check it out togethe...
