The holidays are over which means our education team at the Sacramento History Museum is working hard to prepare for the upcoming school field trip season! We offer in-person school programs to classes that can visit and also bring the museum to the classroom through virtual field trips and outreach programs. One of the special components of our Gold Rush school program is that students learn about how the news of gold in California was spread across the continent through newspapers. What better way for the students to learn about the printing process of the mid-1800s than to see a live demonstration in our print shop exhibit! In this video, Howard prints a wanted poster, one of the mementos a teacher gets for signing up for our Gold Rush Program, notifying that “SCHOOL GROUPS” are wanted.
