I moved to Canada to chase a career in hockey 🎥
I arrived in Winnipeg having only visited once before, with a clear goal and the acceptance that starting from scratch was part of it. Back home I had a good job, friends and family close by, and a path that would have been easier and more comfortable to stay on. Walking away from that wasn’t easy but it felt necessary for my own personal development and long term goals.
Emotionally it’s been tough. Going from seeing family and friends every week to catching up over video calls and being months apart has been a big adjustment. It’s one of those things you only really understand once you’re doing it.
What’s stood out most whilst being here has been the people. Friendly Manitoba really does live up to its name. I’ve met some incredibly talented people and others who’ve gone out of their way to help me when they didn’t have to. A huge part of that has been
