That day in Old Algiers wasn’t just a “shoot”… it was a quiet kind of prophecy. She texted me like, meet me in Algiers and the sky showed up exactly how it felt heavy, honest, gray. No theatrics. Just that river air, that stillness, that look Old Algiers has when it’s wearing its history on its sleeve. And that’s what always made it special to us… So when she said she loved it, I knew she wasn’t chasing a backdrop. She was chasing a feeling. That day, the weather almost tried to swallow everything… but she didn’t disappear in it. She stood in it. That’s why this photo hits different now. Because a year ago she was standing under those bridges on a gloomy day in a neighborhood most people overlook… and tomorrow she’s walking into office as the Mayor of New Orleans. Same woman. Different weight. And I feel it too. Not just because she’s getting sworn in but because I’ve watched what it costs to keep showing up for a city like this.
