It was the moment that changed everything for Garvita Gulhati: a young girl vying for attention, but she wasn’t asking for money. “She pointed at the bottle in my hand—she just wanted water.” The experience stuck with Gulhati, as did her discovery about the massive amounts of water wasted by restaurants each year. Inspired to act, the then 15-year-old launched Why Waste? to educate restaurants and their patrons about sustainable water usage. With buy-in from the National Restaurant Association of India, her #GlassHalfFull project has rolled out to about half a million outlets across the country. The result? More than 10 million liters (2.6 million gallons) of water saved. As she looks to the future, Gulhati seems ready for anything. “Being a leader today means being able to manage chaos,” she says. “That’s what project management is: It’s about managing and finding some kind of meaning in all of this chaos—extracting value out of it.” Head to the link in our bio to learn how this...
